Green beans

Many people like to add flavor to their green beans. However, most of their recipes contain spices from their cabinet that have pepper already mixed in them. My mother use to love using Mrs. Dash, but now my father and I can not because it contains pepper. So what can you use to change the flavor? One option that I have tried was adding olive oil and fresh garlic to the beans. Another option is butter or soy sauce. The point is open your spice cabinet that has the spices your diet allows and experiment. Have fun with this one. Just take out a small amount of cooked green beans and mix. This way you do not throw away an entire batch of green beans. Plus you'll have fun coming up with your own recipe. Who knows you might be able to impress guests with the new way of making green beans.

Old Recipes

Today I am changing the layout of my blog. I am hoping this change makes this blog easier to locate the information you are searching for. Here's the change. From now on I will continue to post new recipes on the home page. However, the older recipes will be moved to thier correct categories such as Main Dishes. This way you can just click on the cattegory you want instead of scrolling through all the old posts. I hope this helps and again thank you for following my posts. I hope that it is of service to you and to somebody you know with Crohns.

Beef Cubes and Gravy

Ingredients:

2 Cans Cream of Mushroom Soup
1lb. Cubed Beef or Venison
2-4 drops of Kitchen Bouget

Directions:
1. Place cubed beef into skillet with boiling water. The water should only fill a 1/4 of the pan. Cover with a lid. Make sure to stir occassionally so that cubes do not stick together and to check that there is still enough water.
2. Once cooked througholy, you can pour out some of the water or keep it. This will determine if you are making thick gravy or thin.
3. Pour in Cream of Mushroom soup and add Kitchen Bouget to brown your gravy. Mix well. A little Kitchen Bouget can go a long ways, so try not to add too much. It is better to add a couple drops and then add more later. You can not take the drops back out once it is mixed in.
4. Cook until bubbles start to form. Do not bring mushroom soup to a boil. Remove from heat and serve. This can be served over mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, bread, green beans, or carrotts.
As with everything on this site. Make sure that this recipe is allowed on your diet as established by your Doctor and/or Dietition. Again, these recipes are the ones my mother makes for my father who has been living with crohns.
